I suspected it would happen, but it was still a surprise. Since the first round of layoffs at my company in February, I’ve been waiting for the other shoe to drop. I’ve been waiting for the day when I would get the call that I’ve been impacted. It’s tough living in that limbo and getting the email was almost a relief, if it weren’t for the fact that I’m now unemployed. It’s tough, though. It’s tough thinking that someone looked at a list of employees and said, “the company is better off without this person”. It’s tough thinking about what you could have done or could have done better. Certainly there was some criteria I hadn’t met. Nevertheless, I am choosing to view this as the beginning of new challenges and opportunities. I’ll deeply miss working with some of the great people I had the chance to work with. I’ll miss the work I was doing and I’ll miss a lot of aspects about the company I was working for. But, we move on, we adapt, and we grow. I’m excited to see what the future holds.
